TruKKer, a UAE-based truck aggregator, has raised $1.4 million as seed investment in a round, led by Raed VC. The round was also joined by Riyad TAQNIA Fund (RTF), 500 Startups, Cairo-based Averroes Ventures, and Kuwait’s Arzan VC.
Founded by Gaurav Biswas in 2015, TruKKer is an on-demand truck aggregator with a network of transporters. The startup currently provides services different types of services to more than hundred companies in UAE including cross-border transportation of goods to Saudi and Oman through its network of individual transporters. In addition to this, the startup also offers different solutions to individuals and families to help them with moving their homes or large item(s) from one place to another.
TruKKer has an extensive on-boarding process for the transporters to help them get familiar with its technology and ensure compliance with its operational standards.
The startup claims to have witnessed growth of 2000% in its first year of operations in UAE and is currently preparing for a large expansion. The startup has been able to reduce transportation rates by 20 – 30% on different instances because of the higher asset utilization of trucks in its network.
“We have focused on execution from day one along with quick to market strategy for all our products and segments, which has been one of the primary drivers of our growth. The trucking industry has remained traditional for a very long time, relying on brokers to connect trucking companies and shippers, an uneven process, which is ready for technology-based transformation,” said Gaurav Biswas, the Founder & CEO of TruKKer “Our services and products are designed to fill the gap between what the industry requires from an organized transportation company and what services are received from the unorganized small and individual owner-drivers. Our technology and operational setup allows all member transporters to operate on a common performance standard and service quality.” he added.
Omar Almajdouie, the Founder & Managing Partner of Raed VC, the leading investor for this round, said: “We understand the logistics space very well and find TruKKer’s go-to market strategy and service offerings to make a positive impact to the MENA region’s transportation sector. The team is well grounded with focus on execution, which makes the difference between a successful and unsuccessful venture. We wish all the best to TruKKer and will offer any help and support to fuel their ongoing growth into Saudi Arabia and other regional markets.”
The startup plans to expand to three new markets within next one year and raise its Series A round after that. Earlier this year, Yalla Pickup, another Dubai-based startup that offers moving services through its web and mobile apps had raised ~$272K (AED 1 million) in seed investment.
