RiseUp Summit 2019 to take place at The American University in Cairo (New Cairo campus), aims to attract 10,000 attendees

RiseUp Summit, one of the largest entrepreneurship events of the Middle East & North Africa, has today announced the launch of its 7th edition with a new venue. The summit for the first time will be taking place at The American University in the New Cairo campus from 5th to 7th December which also coincides with AUC’s centennial celebration.

“The AUC new campus will provide space for more startups to join the summit, accommodate a sizeable number of attendees, as well as introduce a number of new features to this year’s RiseUp Summit. The new location will also allow RiseUp to lead a digital transformation that will help provide each summit attendee with a unique tailored experience,” RiseUp said in a statement.

RiseUp Summit 2019 aims to attract around 10,000 attendees from all over the world for its three-day event that for the first time (in addition to English will also feature Arabic content. The theme for this year ‘Journey of Growth’ has been designed to build on past editions of RiseUp Summit and will combine elements of innovation, grounded experiences, and growth.

Abdelhameed Sharara, the co-founder and CEO of RiseUp, in a statement, said, “Having organized the summit for the past 7 years, we were able to identify the challenges faced by startups in the region which allowed us to develop a complete model that they can follow when venturing through the entrepreneurship ecosystem.”

“After dissecting growth, we found that there is no fixed manual on how to grow, it is a personal and unique journey for each entrepreneur. So what we can offer people is diverse and unlimited resources and opportunities, along with a growth strategy, we decided to move to the AUC New Cairo campus, allowing us to roadmap that guides them through this journey. And being committed to our own grow further in all aspects,” he added.

RiseUp Summit 2019 is hosting four startups exhibitions for the startups at different stages/from different industries: Startups Station for the early-stage startups, HIPOs Station for post-seed startups, an F&B Station and a Creative Marketplace. The participating startups will also have a chance to take part in investors office hours, talent matchmaking, legal clinic, and UX/UI clinic.

The speaker line-up for the seventh edition of RiseUp Summit will also feature many international figures, including Brian Collins, Chief Creative Officer of Collins, Gerardo Mazzeo, Global Innovation Director at Nestlé, Karen Cheng, Head of Social at 9GAG and Marcel Muenster, Founder, and Director of the Gritti Fund.

RiseUp is also organizing a multi-stage regional pitch competition Pitch by Pyramids with its final taking place on 8th December.

Since its inception in 2013, RiseUp Summit has hosted over 25,000 attendees, 1250 speakers, 800 investors, and 750 startups.
