Previous blocked, Whatsapp Voice & Video Calls seem go be working in UAE as of now; different users and online publications have reported and confirmed.
Whether they’ve been unblocked officially or as a result of some technical glitch remains to be seen as there’s no official word from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of UAE. The service was blocked as UAE does not allow the use of VoIP providers. For any VoIP application including Skype to work, users normally depend on VPN applications.
The Whatsapp Voice & Video Call feature is currently working on both Etisalat & du. Different users have reported to have made calls on both WiFi & data.
Many users took it to Twitter to confirm and celebrate the availability of the feature.
Right after a Quick call with fam on whatapp... I hereby confirm that #Whatsapp Video and Audio Calls are FINALLY unblocked in the #UAE. 😇💃🏻

I think the UAE will crash the WhatsApp voice servers soon with the amount of “test calls” that are currently happening 😂
