Vezeeta, the leading healthcare startup of the Middle East & North Africa has expanded to East Africa with the launch of its doctor booking platform in Kenya. The Cairo-born company that is now headquartered in Dubai announced the Kenya launch in a LinkedIn post today.
MENAbytes had reported earlier this year that it is looking to expand into Nigeria & Kenya.
The Kenya launch comes two months after Vezeeta announced the closing of its $40 million Series D (at a valuation ‘well above’ $100 million) led by Abu Dhabi-based Gulf Capital with participation of Saudi Technology Ventures.
At the time, the company had said that it will use the money to support its growth plans which include rolling out the new digital capabilities of online pharmacy and telehealth across its existing footprint and new markets.
The Dubai-headquartered company is also looking to expand to Nigeria within the next few weeks, we’ve learned. Nana Frimpong, an international development professional who joined Vezeeta earlier this year is leading the company’s expansion in Africa.
Vezeeta’s doctor booking platform currently lists doctors in Kenya’s capital Nairobi only but apparently they will add more cities as they grow.
