Dubai-headquartered language technology company Tarjama has secured $15 million in a Series A funding round led by Global Ventures, with participation from Wamda Capital, TA Ventures, Phaze Capital, Golden Gate Ventures, and Endeavor Catalyst, it announced today. The round brings Tarjama’s total funding to over $20 million. The company last raised $5 million in 2019.
Founded in 2008 by Nour Al Hassan, Tarjama plans to use the fresh funds to accelerate the rollout of its Arabic.AI agentic ecosystem, designed to help organizations solve complex business processes with AI agents tailored for the region’s unique needs.
The company, which claims to have maintained profitability while growing its revenue by 20% CAGR over the last three years, has processed over two billion words in more than 50 languages and 22 Arabic dialects across its 16 years of operation. Tarjama currently maintains a global presence in over 30 markets.
“We’re delighted to close this Series A funding round and thank Global Ventures and all our other investors for their support and sharing our forward-looking vision,” said Nour Al Hassan, Founder and CEO of Tarjama. “We have a vast market opportunity in our grasp; Arabic has been underserved by AI for too long. Our flagship product, Pronoia, changes that – it is far faster, more secure, and cost-effective.”
Tarjama’s latest offering, the Arabic.ai platform, is built around Pronoia V2, its proprietary Arabic Large Language Model (LLM) that the company claims outperforms global models like GPT-4o, DeepSeek-V3, and Cohere on Arabic language tasks. The solution aims to address the long-standing gap in Arabic language AI capabilities for the region’s 400 million Arabic speakers across a $3 trillion economy.
“We see enterprises struggle with Arabic, but Pronoia transforms day-long tasks into minutes – fundamentally changing how companies can operate in Arabic markets,” Nour added.
Said Murad, Senior Partner at Global Ventures, commented on the investment: “We’re excited to lead Tarjama’s Series A fundraise and support Nour and her incredible team in transforming how Arabic business problems are solved by AI. Tarjama has multiple competitive advantages – both technically and culturally – and its state-of-the-art LLM, Pronoia, is purpose-built to dominate in a market where other AI tools have consistently fallen short.”
As part of its growth strategy, Tarjama plans to double its research and engineering teams, expand its infrastructure with models and agents across various functions and industries, and launch an AI Academy aimed at upskilling hundreds of enterprise and government leaders in advanced AI deployment over the next 18 months.
