Egypt’s Suplyd raises $2 million pre-Series A to grow its restaurant procurement platform

Cairo-based digital procurement platform Suplyd has raised $2 million in a pre-Series A funding round led by 4DX Ventures, Camel Ventures, and Plus VC, with participation from Seedstars and existing investors, it announced today. The round will support the company’s expansion beyond procurement and help build comprehensive infrastructure for restaurant operations across Egypt.

Founded in 2022 by Gohar Said, Karim Selima, and Ahmed ElMahdy, Suplyd digitizes procurement supply chain processes for hotels, restaurants, and cafes (HORECA) by directly connecting restaurants with suppliers through its platform. The startup is targeting Egypt’s multi-billion-dollar HORECA supply chain, addressing inefficiencies including supply chain fragmentation, unreliable deliveries, and lack of transparency.

The company has scaled rapidly since its $1.6 million pre-seed round in 2022, growing what it describes as 20x in terms of customers served and transaction volume. Suplyd now works with over 5,000 restaurants across Egypt, offering access to more than 1,000 products from over 200 brands across categories ranging from fresh produce to cleaning supplies.

The platform replaces fragmented daily ordering processes with a single, streamlined solution that gives operators access to over 1,000 products across categories including fresh produce, meat, poultry, seafood, dairy, beverages, and restaurant supplies from more than 200 brands.

The company claims a 100% successful order fulfillment rate while providing real-time analytics and procurement insights. With a fully digital trail, Suplyd helps restaurants reduce waste, cut costs, and improve supply chain predictability.

“Over the past four years, we’ve built Suplyd into a critical part of Egypt’s restaurant ecosystem,” said Gohar Said, Founder and CEO of Suplyd. “What started as a bold idea is now powering thousands of restaurants every day. We didn’t just witness the industry’s digital transformation. We helped lead it. And we’re just getting started.”

Peter Orth, Partner at 4DX Ventures, commented: “Suplyd’s digital procurement platform serves the long tail of restaurants that are often overlooked. Their early traction, strong supplier relationships, and diversified revenue streams reinforced our conviction. We believe Suplyd is well-positioned to become a category-defining player within the region.”

Hasan Haider, Founder and Managing Partner at Plus VC, added: “Suplyd has become a key enabler in the digital transformation of Egypt’s F&B sector, turning a once fragmented procurement process into a streamlined, tech-driven solution. Their strong traction over the past four years reflects the team’s deep market insight and operational excellence.”

The new funding will enable Suplyd to enhance its platform beyond traditional procurement, accelerate development of new service verticals, and expand its reach within Egypt. The company claims it has one of the highest tech adoption rates among B2B supply chain players in the region.
