Jeddah-based on-demand laundry startup Smart Washr has raised seed investment from Saudi investment firms You Reek Ideas Inc. and Horizon Light Investments. Size of the investment was not disclosed but we have confirmed that it was in six figures (USD).
Founded last year by Suhail Jabir, Adeel Qureshi, Abdulaziz AlAbdullah and Majid Abdulelah, Smart Washr allows users to have their laundry done through their Android or iOS app.
The users after signing up can select the type of clothes, the type of service that’s needed (dry clean, press, wash) and request a pick up. The clothes are the picked up, cleaned and delivered within 24 hours.
Smart Washr currently has its services available in Jeddah only but plans to expand to Makkah and Madinah in the coming few months and then to Riyadh.
The startup plans to use the investment to further develop their technology, increase their order capacity, and expand to new cities, Smart Washr’s co-founder Suhail Jabir told MENAbytes.
We believe in creating a solid product first and foremost. Thats why it was only after building the business and seeing that it worked that we began seeking the necessary funds we needed for scalability and growth.
Since launching, Smart Washr has been experiencing 40% month over month increase in the orders and 20% in monthly downloads.
