PIF launches HUMAIN to lead Saudi AI infrastructure and Arabic LLM development

Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) has launched HUMAIN, a new company that will build and operate across the AI value chain, including infrastructure, cloud services, and large language models.

HUMAIN will consolidate and lead national efforts around AI, including the development of Arabic multimodal LLMs, data centers, and hardware procurement. The company will offer AI tools and services for both domestic and international markets, targeting sectors such as energy, healthcare, manufacturing, and financial services.

The launch follows reports that Saudi Arabia is planning to invest heavily in artificial intelligence, including a $40 billion AI fund backed by PIF and a broader $100 billion push into AI and semiconductors. The initiatives include partnerships with global tech companies and the setup of firms like Alat to build local manufacturing and AI hardware capabilities.

It is not clear whether HUMAIN is directly tied to these previously reported initiatives, but it adds to PIF’s growing portfolio of AI-focused entities. The fund also owns the Saudi Company for Artificial Intelligence (SCAI), established in 2021 to develop AI applications across sectors such as smart cities, healthcare, and public transport.

HUMAIN will also support local IP creation, attract global talent, and position Saudi Arabia as a regional and global AI hub. The company is fully owned by PIF and chaired by the Saudi Crown Prince in his capacity as head of the fund.
