UAE-based healthcare fintech startup Klaim has raised $26 million in funding, comprising $10 million in Series A equity funding and $16 million in debt financing, it announced on Friday. The round was led by Saudi-based Mad’a Investment with participation from CDG Invest, the investment arm of Morocco’s Deposit and Management Fund.
Founded in 2019 by Karim Dakki and Ghafoor Ahmad, Klaim addresses a critical challenge in healthcare finance by accelerating medical insurance claim payments. According to the company, while regulations require claims to be paid within 45 days after submission, the typical payment cycle takes 60-90 days, with insurers taking up to 120 days to pay 90% of submitted claims.
The Abu Dhabi-headquartered startup enables healthcare providers to access payments within 24 hours of claim submission, significantly improving their cash flow and operational capabilities.
With the fresh capital, Klaim plans to expand its operations across the MENA region, with a particular focus on deepening its presence in the UAE and deploying capital in Saudi Arabia and Oman. The funding will also be used to enhance its technological capabilities and establish new partnerships with financial institutions, insurers, and healthcare providers.
Karim Dakki, co-founder and CEO of Klaim, described the Series A funding as a “critical inflection point” that would enable the company to scale rapidly.
The startup’s Saudi expansion comes through a collaboration with Tharawat Tuwaiq Financial Company, which has secured approval to launch a healthcare private closed-ended financing fund valued at $16 million (SAR 60 million). The first transaction under this partnership is scheduled for this month, with additional funds expected in the second half of 2025.
“Klaim is now expanding its focus to enterprise healthcare systems, enabling larger providers and hospital networks to access payments within 24 hours,” said Ghafoor Ahmad, co-founder and global chief revenue officer at Klaim.
Currently operating in the UAE and Saudi Arabia with offices in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Riyadh, Klaim aims to expand across the entire GCC region in the near future.
