Instabug appoints Jim Douglas as new CEO, Omar Gabr transitions to President

Instabug, the AI-powered mobile observability platform, has appointed Jim Douglas as its new CEO, with co-founder Omar Gabr transitioning to the role of President, the company announced today.

The leadership change comes after Gabr’s 13-year tenure as CEO, during which he helped build Instabug into a leading platform for mobile app performance monitoring and debugging.

“After 13 transformative years leading Instabug, I’m incredibly excited to welcome Jim Douglas. His proven ability to drive exponential growth perfectly aligns with our ambition to lead the narrative toward zero-maintenance mobile apps, where performance and user experience redefine what’s possible,” said Omar Gabr.

Jim joins Instabug with experience as a five-time CEO, having previously held leadership positions at Armory and Wind River. At Instabug, he will focus on scaling the company’s AI-powered observability platform that helps mobile teams monitor, optimize, and improve their apps in real-time.

Commenting on the appointment, he said, “I am honored to join Instabug at such a pivotal moment. The explosive growth in the mobile app landscape, supported by our industry-leading AI-powered mobile observability platform, represents an extraordinary opportunity.”

Founded in 2012 in Egypt by Omar Gabr and Moataz Soliman, Instabug has established itself as a key player in the mobile development space, serving developers and enterprises worldwide with tools to ensure seamless user experiences. The startup that was founded in Egypt has raised over $50 million in total funding including a $46 million Series B from Insight Partners, Accel, and a few other investors.

It allows app developers to test new features, improve app quality, and collect actionable feedback across the mobile development lifecycle, through its platform.

The company is now positioning itself around “zero-maintenance mobile apps,” a vision that aims to leverage AI to significantly reduce the maintenance burden for app developers.
