Flat6Labs is one of the largest and oldest accelerator programs of the region, that had started from Cairo, when Sawari Ventures & American University of Cairo entered a partnership in 2011 to launch Flat6Labs Cairo. It has since then expanded to four new locations and is now accelerating startups in Jeddah, Abu Dhabi, Beirut & Tunis as well.
Flat6Labs Cairo that has accelerated more than fifty startups in its nine cycles is now accepting applications for the tenth one. The accelerator is offering equity investment of upto EGP 250,000 ($14,165) in exchange of 12% equity in the startups.
The four-month program apart from equity investment also offers office space, mentorship, training, legal support, $300K worth of perks and services, and networking opportunities to all the selected startups.
Flat6Labs Cairo has been a home to some of the most successful startups of Egypt including Instabug, Taskty, Nafham & Pushbots. It is currently raising EGP 100 million ($5.6 million) for the Cairo fund to support 100 Egyptian startups and had announced first closing of EGP 20 million ($1.13 million) earlier this year.
Some of the notable mentors associated with the program include Amr Shady of TA Telecom, BECO Capital’s Dany & Amir Farha, Omar Soudodi of PayFort, Startup Rising’s Author Christopher M. Schroeder, Hind Wassed of Diwan, Maha Ibrahim of Canaan Patners & Hanan Abdel Meguid of OTV Ventures.
