UAE-based classifieds platform Dubizzle Group (previously known as Emerging Markets Property Group or EMPG) has acquired Egyptian online car marketplace Hatla2ee for an undisclosed amount, it announced on Tuesday. The acquisition comes less than a year after Dubizzle’s purchase of UAE-based automotive platform Drive Arabia.
Founded in 2016 by Samy Swellam, Hatla2ee has grown to become one of Egypt’s leading automotive marketplaces, attracting over 2 million monthly visitors across its website and mobile app. The platform enables users to buy and sell both new and used cars.
The deal marks Dubizzle Group’s latest expansion in Egypt, where it already operates Dubizzle for general classifieds and Bayut for real estate listings. The group plans to integrate its technology and resources into Hatla2ee’s platform to enhance the car buying and selling experience for Egyptian users.
Imran Ali Khan, CEO of Dubizzle Group, commenting on the acquisition, said, “With 114 million people and a quickly evolving automotive market, Egypt is a key focus for Dubizzle Group’s future growth. This acquisition reinforces our commitment to transforming the way Egyptians buy and sell cars.”
“Joining forces with Dubizzle Group opens up new opportunities to enhance our platform, leverage advanced technology, and create an even better experience for users in Egypt,” said Samy Swellam, CEO of Hatla2ee.
Dubizzle Group continues to expand its portfolio of classified platforms across the MENA region through strategic acquisitions, with Hatla2ee being its second automotive-focused acquisition in the past year.
Its previous acquisitions include Mubawab in Morocco, Kaidee in Thailand, Bproperty in Bangladesh, Lamudi across different markets. The Dubai-headquartered firm merged with Olx in 2020, in a deal, that made it a unicorn.
